  Legislative oversight
  During the last legislative session, we had representatives who suppressed a bill to prohibit LPCs from providing marriage and family services.  More importantly, we are now in dialogue with the proponents of the bill prior to this year’s legislature. You will receive email updates on legislation that affects us and our license.
  

• A direct relationship with WVBEC
  The WV Board of Examiners in Counseling is the body that issues our professional license.  It stands to reason that we want close ties with the board.  We have a representative present at the WVBEC meetings and serves as a communication link between BEC and our members. You will be kept informed of news you should know about.
  

• Reliable source of CEUs
  CEUs are required to keep your license current. Our workshops and conferences include topics of importance to people who rely on their license for their living. As we speak, we are planning a Spring Conference, about which you will be notified soon. Please visit the Seminars and Conferences webpage of this site for more information.

• Help with your business
  WVLPCA is a source of information for business and tax issues
  Most of us have little to no training in these areas.  And yet, our practice is a business.  It is very important that we have up to date information about these issues. Record keeping, tax issues and marketing, as well as other business-related concerns are addressed at our conferences and mailings.
  

• Access to other LPCs
  The ability to share professional experiences, ask questions about best practices, etc. – this is where some of our best learning takes place. You will have opportunity to regularly interact with other counseling professionals in meetings, seminars and conferences.
